Turn Me OFF

During my recent retreat with Go and Tell Gals, Jess so kindly reminded us that phones have an off button. We can turn. them. off. Everyone giggled, almost embarrassed (or at-least I was), when she reminded us of this, like “oh yeah, duh“.

But then I got to thinking, wondering, what is my off button? How do I turn off?

As a mom of 3 kids, 2 dogs, 1 outdoor cat, 1 husband, 5+ team members (I don’t love calling them employees, feels too distant for what they are to me), I live in a state of overstimulated. Almost at all times.

I have to be honest with you here, I am still working out the answer to this question. I wish it was as easy as clicking a button and my system completely shutting off, but, it’s not. Even during sleep I am on, dreaming of clients, business ideas, and more. Some nights I could even get a full nights rest (some, being the key word here, because those are rare in a household with such young children) and I can still wake up feeling completely exhausted.

Here are some things I am exploring as “off buttons“:

+ Drinking my glass of lukewarm water with Morning Routine and ARMRA in it first thing in the morning before I do anything for anyone else.

+ Taking a walk, outside, with my phone on DND!

+ Making myself a second cup of coffee after I drop the kids off at school and drinking it in its entirety, while it is still warm.

+ Setting a timer for 5 minutes and 55 seconds (my favorite number is 5 and I like angel numbers) and laying down wherever I am and breathing.

Now, I am not sure that these are as much “off buttons” as they are “factory resets” but nonetheless, you get where I am going with this.

As I test these, and other things, out, I will come back and update this post. And if you have any suggestions, please, SHARE!

Over and out off,

KW
